Hi everyone! Ok, I know you were expecting to hear from us on Sunday since I told you monthly release in July. I hope you aren't mad. This thing came up. Don't worry, it wasn't a bug or anything. It was just... sigh... Well. I'm just going to come clean here. I had a few too many diet cokes, set the office ablaze, and our beta key was incinerated in the fire. After trying hard to replace it, we just had to give up and make 3.8.2 an official release version. Yep, hope you aren't too disappointed this one isn't another beta. Anywho, pull up a slice of carpet and let ol' aunt Cinder tell you what we've got in store for you in 3.8.2.

We fulfilled some of your special requests like we're some kind of DJ at a community college mixer, you guys. You can now sync material layers as you adjust textures across faces, and hey, it even works with planar mapping here. You can reset scripts just by right clicking an object now too. We've got your back builders. Feel free to crank up your vram too by special request. Bug fixes, we've got lots of 'em. The release notes simply don't do them justice, that's just what users have filed. Why aren't you guys filing more bug reports guys? We love that stuff, seriously! Hey, I even fixed Japanese and Russian input.

Hey, speaking of kanji, we could really use some help with translations. Do you speak English and another language? Want to help us and a whole lot of other people out? We would really use your help with translations! I'll even do something for you! I'll make you a hat or a sweater write you a haiku. Hell, I'll take you out to dinner. Pleeeeease help us.

Ok, just one more thing, I promise. Then I'll give you the links you want. No, seriously, I know you don't believe me cuz a told you a month and then I was four days late and now I've wasted more of your precious time, but this is just one more thing, k? Don't worry. It will all be over soon, or you can just scroll down to the downloads, but you wouldn't that to me, would you? It's just one more little thing I've got to mention and it will just take me a few minutes to write and one minute for you to read (or not, if you're just in it for Second Life, go ahead and skip to the end here, friends):

With this release of Alchemy, we bring you full OpenSimulator support written from the ground up and are proud to say we will support OpenSim as a first class platform on par with our Second Life support. Much of the past month has been spent in communication with the OpenSimulator team not only to bring our viewer up to speed and inline with their platform, but to help squash compatibility bugs with their protocol, and it doesn't stop there. Our goal is to be the forerunner for new features and protocol helping OpenSim go places it hasn't be able to go before having been burdened by rigid viewer design and bound to the Second Life protocol by the viewer. We are committed to breaking new ground with OpenSim. That said, this is the first release of a brand new OpenSim implementation, so there's bound to be bugs. Remember what I said about about bug reports? Send them in! We love it.

So yeah... Thanks for sitting through my announcement. We're pretty excited, and I hope you're excited for 3.8.2 RELEASE. Here's the downloads..
